Solar and battery storage, designed around the home, not the roof.

Anyone can quote for the number of panels that fit on your roof. We start with a proper consultation: how you live in the home, how you use energy, and where solar and battery storage genuinely earn their place alongside everything else the property needs.

Why This is Different

We're not trying to be the cheapest solar quote you get.

There’s no shortage of installers who’ll give you an instant online estimate based on your postcode and roof size. That works fine for a simple, standalone array. It works less well when solar and battery need to sit alongside a heat pump, an EV charger, and a smart tariff, all pulling from the same roof and the same consumer unit.

We look at the whole house first: your roof, your existing or planned heating system, and how your household actually uses electricity through the day. Only then do we recommend a system, and we’ll tell you plainly if a smaller array pays back faster than the biggest one your roof could physically hold.

The Technology

Every system we design and install.

Solar and battery rarely work well in isolation. We specify each element to work as part of one system, not a collection of separate purchases.

01

Solar PV

Sized against your actual roof, orientation and household usage, not a rule of thumb.

02

Battery storage

Stores what you generate, or cheap off-peak electricity, so it’s available when you need it.

03

Solar diverters

Route surplus generation to hot water before anything else, a simple way to use more of what you produce.

04

EV charging

Storing solar generation, or cheap off-peak electricity, to run the heat pump when it’s most cost-effective.

05

Smart-tariff integration

Controls that shift battery charging and discharge to align automatically with time-of-use tariffs.

06

Monitoring & controls

So you can see what the system is doing, not just trust that it is.

How We Apprach It

A proper survey, not a postcode estimate.

1

A proper survey, not a postcode estimate

We assess your roof condition, orientation, shading and structure, alongside how the rest of the property's energy system works or is planned to work. If your roof needs attention first, we'll tell you before you commit to anything.

2

Sized for how you live, not how much space you have

A bigger array isn't automatically the right answer. We size the system against your actual consumption and export patterns, so you're not paying for capacity you'll rarely use.

3

Designed to work with everything else

If you already have, or are planning, a heat pump, EV charger or smart tariff, we design the solar and battery system to work with it from the outset, not retrofit compatibility in later.

This applies whether the project is a retrofit into an existing home, a retro-modernisation, a new build, or a light commercial installation. The approach doesn’t change; only the starting point does.

The Proof

Designed as part of a bigger project.

New Build · North Devon

Andrew Seaman

Ground source heat pump, underfloor heating, solar PV and MVHR, specified together for a new-build home from the outset.

Retrofit · North Devon

Michael Trusler

Air source heat pump, solar PV and an EV charger, added to an existing home as one integrated upgrade rather than three separate jobs.

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

How is the size of my system worked out?

From a site visit, not a postcode. Roof orientation, shading, structural condition, and how much electricity the household actually uses through the day all factor in, then the array and battery get sized against that. A 1kWp array typically needs around 8m² of roof, but the number that matters is the one built from your usage, not a rule of thumb.

Because it wouldn’t be accurate. Roof condition, shading, existing wiring, and what else the system needs to support, a heat pump, an EV charger, all change the right answer, and none of that shows up from a postcode. The design survey covers it properly, and it’s free.

Usually, yes. We check what inverter and system you’ve already got as part of the survey, and design the addition around it rather than replacing something that still works fine.

They’re meant to work together. The battery holds what the panels generate, or cheap overnight electricity, and the smart tariff controls decide when to release it, including to run a heat pump efficiently. Most of the value gets lost when these are bought as three separate products instead of one system, which is largely why we design them together from the start.

Panels themselves are rarely heavy enough to cause a problem. It’s more a timing question: if the roof needs work anyway, doing it alongside the solar install usually costs less than treating them as two separate jobs later.

Somewhere ventilated, ideally. Inverters run warm, so a sealed cupboard isn’t ideal. A loft usually works well; if you can’t get up there, we’ll find another spot during the survey.

Both, along with retro-modernisations and light commercial projects. The technology doesn’t change; what changes is how early we get involved.

Twenty years plus if it’s specified properly. Most of what we install carries a manufacturer warranty on top of the ten-year insurance-backed workmanship guarantee that comes with MCS-compliant work.

The First Step

It starts with a conversation, not a quote.

There’s no instant online estimator here, because a retrofit that’s actually designed around your home can’t be priced from a form. Tell us about the property and how you live in it, and we’ll book a proper conversation.
